Update // much has changed

I think the theme for 2009 really is CHANGE. Aside from the improbable and remarkable Obama Presidential campaign, it seems that while I've planned, God has had a good laugh.

My girlfriend recently acknowledged her alcoholism and I find myself re-evaluating priorities. Is this something I'm prepared to deal with? Can I endure the uncertainties that are inherent of a life with an addict? My self-assurance is faltering... My current realty hasn't completely blindsided me. If anything, it's more that I'm disgusted by my nagging suspicion that I've made a terrible mistake. My new challenge is identifying exactly what mistake was made and if I can change and be bettered as a result of it.

Unexpected changes at work has me questioning not only my job security but the environment in which I'm working. Work needs to have priorities re-evaluated too. Should I accept the support role I was offered at the expense of my commissionable opportunities? Is there a balance to be had?

Another day, another dollar - owed. My secondary income is a giant question mark as what was sold is not what's being delivered with my Mexico timeshare. The company can't even seem to get billing me done right. At least I'm still paying off debt, albeit at the expense of owning a car.

My one victory has been in being a positive influence. I helped a friend of 12 years realize that she is not equipped to manage the demons released when she drinks. I've helped her realize a needed life change. I helped my cousin get a job at a ritzy new hotel. And, I've helped a co-worker acknowledge her personal worth by contrasting all challenges she's confronted with against her biggest priority - motherhood. Still, I need to confront the questions surrounding my indecision of if I should allow a family member to move to Miami & start a new life...

Move Forward

2009 // I resolve to: advance my career. payoff debt. invest in a secondary profit source. pick up photography. become organized. be a positive influence. complete unfinished projects. own my responsibilities. let go of the past. live without regret.

Let's see how consistent I stay with my posts and living through my resolutions.

In comparison, About.com's Top Ten New Year Resolutions for Miami however generic, at least links to ways on getting it done.
